Eunice LaVonne Burt Shishkowsky

On Thursday, July 15, 2021, Eunice LaVonne Burt Shishkowsky passed into the arms of Jesus. She was 92 years old.

Eunice (or Nunie, as her loved ones called her) was born on Feb. 12, 1929, in Worland, Wyoming, to Alta (Henderson) and Myron Burt. The family moved to Billings in 1937. Eunice graduated from Billings High School (now Billings Senior High) and moved to Portland, Oregon, to attend college. She moved back to Billings when her father passed away unexpectedly in 1949 to help her mother.

Eunice worked for a time at Clark’s Market and Petersen Typewriter and later on at Bob’s IGA and The Diet Center, but was primarily a homemaker, taking care of her children and husband.

In 1950, Eunice married Tom Shishkowsky and to this union were born three children. They moved from Billings to Miles City to Great Falls and back to Billings for Tom’s work. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on Oct. 8, 2014, but Tom passed away on Sept. 30, 2014. Eunice continued to live in the home they had shared with her loving cat, Misty, until her passing.

Eunice is survived by her daughters, Ronee Mills and Callan Burt; son Thomas Shiskovsky (Maria); grandchildren Donny Mills, Travis Kean Mills (Brianna), Dmitri and Katya Shiskovsky; great-grandchildren Ariah, Kaiah, Aliyah, Milah, Remington and Lennox Mills; her brother David Burt (Annie); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All will remember her by her faithful yearly birthday phone calls when she sang “Happy Birthday” to each of them with her beautiful voice. We’ll miss your infectious smile, Nunie.

Eunice was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister, Naomi Wright; and her brothers, Sylvan, Harold and Lee Burt.

A graveside service is planned for 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at Mountview Cemetery, 1704 Central Ave., Billings.
