Dr. Gregory Dorow Obituary

Gregory Lee Dorow, 74, passed away on Jan. 29, 2024, after his battle with ALS, departing to his home prepared in advance by his Lord where he will dwell with God in paradise forever.

Greg was born on May 20, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, to Katy and Gerald Dorow. Greg gained his passion for fixing and repairing things from his grandpa, Sam, who was a carpenter, and his dad, Gerry, a chemical engineer. Greg later became known as Mr. Fix-It for his talent for repairing things and his belief to never give up until the project was finished. Greg had a servant’s heart and used his immense capabilities to serve others.

Greg began his journey following Jesus when he went to a high school Fellowship of Christian Athletes basketball camp, where he made the decision to dedicate his life to Jesus who had died for his sins.

Greg met his beautiful wife Terry in January of 1969. Terry fondly recalls how after many prayers for her future husband, she laid eyes on Greg in the Rocky Mountain College cafeteria and God spoke to her, telling her that he would be her husband. God had brought Greg to the Rocky Mountain College through a basketball scholarship and during his time there, Greg courted Terry and they married in December of 1969. They were blessed with 54 years of marriage and two daughters Nicole and Natalie.

Greg graduated first in his class for clinicals from the University of Detroit dental school in 1974. In his 49-year career in dentistry, he was a gentle and excellent provider, always putting the needs of his patients above his own benefit. He served as president of the Billings Dental Society and chairman of the state ethics committee.

Greg had a passion for biking, participating in the Peaks to Prairie Race as well as the Big Sky State Games every year since it started until he was diagnosed with ALS in 2023.

Greg is survived by his wife, Terry; children, Nicole (Frank) Nienaber and Natalie (Jared)  Dickerson; six grandchildren, Ellise Nienaber, Emily (Luke) Hovis, Kate Nienaber, Audrey Nienaber, Lillian Dickerson and Elijah Dickerson; and sisters Dede Patz and Tammy Freeman.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Katy and Gerald Dorow; and sister Sharryl Pyke.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at Faith Chapel, 517 Shiloh Road, Billings. Lunch reception to follow. Donations can be made to Billings Trail Net or Samaritans Purse.

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  2 Timothy 4:7
