Daniel Kercher Obituary

Daniel R. Kercher passed away on Nov. 15, 2023.

He was born in Bridger, Montana, on Jan. 31, 1941. After the family moved to a farm in Roberts, Montana, in 1946, Dan attended school at Roberts and graduated in 1959. He entered St. Olaf College in Minnesota with a focus on pre-med. He transferred to EMC (MSUB), but earned a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology at the University of Montana. He culminated his higher education with a master’s degree in rehabilitative therapy.

His work experience included counseling at Dawson College in Glendive; teaching science at Terry, Montana; and teaching math at Roberts.

After a brief partnership in the Trapper Drive Inn in Bridger, Montana, he began buying and leasing rentals in Billings, which ultimately led to a partnership in the Silver Dollar Bar. His final work experience was as a custodian at Billings Senior High.

In his later years, he focused on his memorable life with the care of the animals and the fields of hay and grain on the farm in Roberts.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Ann and George Kercher; brothers Connie (Lydia) and Leslie (Renae). Survivors include his sister Carol Simmons and numerous nieces and nephews.

Many thanks to St. John’s Hospice and St. John’s United for their care of and comfort for Dan.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, in the Lillis Chapel on the St. John’s Campus. Burial will follow in Bridger Cemetery.
