Ted Shinneman, our loving father and grandfather, sadly passed away on Dec. 1, 2022, at the age of 79, surrounded by his family.
Ted is survived by his children: his sons Sean and Chad (Lita), daughter Jennifer Witt (Kyle), and grandchildren Brandon, Courtney and Alexis.
He is predeceased by his parents John and Leora Shinneman and brother Don Shinneman.
Ted was born in Howe, Indiana, on Aug. 5, 1943. Ted and his family moved to Sylmar, California, where he would graduate from high school and meet his former wife, Dianna. He served in the Air National Guard for six years. He then worked in the Motion Picture Industry as a key grip on many movies and TV shows. After retirement, Ted made the permanent move to Shepherd.
Moving back to Montana, Ted started raising cattle on his land, but because of his love for animals, these cows quickly became his pets. Ted loved to travel. He enjoyed sitting at a coffee shop while learning different languages for his travels. His hobbies were collecting stamps and foreign currency from all his travels. He loved fishing with his sons and talked about wanting one last fishing trip. He enjoyed spending time at his daughter’s house, having dinner and watching football with family. Ted always said time went by too fast and wished he had more time to spend with his grandkids. He loved spoiling his cats Callie and Mindy. He spent a lot time with his good friends Leonard and Rosie always talking about how much they helped him when he needed it.
A viewing and funeral service is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on December 6 at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave., Billings. Charitable contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
