Sherry Lee Wilson

“Shades, Momma, Nana”

Sherry Lee Wilson “Shades, Momma, Nana” was born on Oct. 20, 1956, in Billings, to Joyce Coles (Wilson) and Adrian Wilson. Sherry was the third daughter of five children; all but one has been called home to the range. Sherry had four children of her own: Naome, Adrian, Beau and Nyolla. They collectively gave her nine grandbabies (10 with an extra), LaTasha, Simone, Aurora, Dameon, Xavier, Jade, Zephen, Dakota, Steel and little Olivia (her extra). Sherry also had the joy of being a great-grandma to Stanley, Everrett and Kieran.

But don’t let that fool you! Momma/Nana had too many adopted babies to keep track of and she loved every last one. She went from making mudpies in the front yard to playing Minecraft. As long as she was enjoying time with her “babies,” she didn’t care.

Sherry was a kind soul with warmth to melt your own, but she was fierce and every bone a stubborn one. “Momma” Sherry had a “Let’s Get Shit Done” attitude and anyone who knew her knew she got shit done! And she did it while teaching others along the way, so they knew how “to get it done.” Sherry got it done. From the time she spent with cattle on the Patterson Ranch or working alongside her daddy with the Smith family, traveling across Wyoming working with oil rigs or spending summers building across Montana (bet you there wasn’t a roof of a cabin in Red Lodge she didn’t touch).

Sherry was a true artist; she could take apart any vehicle and make it run again, but if you ever saw her beadwork or drawings she created, you knew how breathtaking it was. The time she took for each piece she made was time doing what she loved. Running around stores to collect beads or gathering items from the wild, Sherry loved to create beautiful things. Her talent for drawing has definitely been passed down through the generations.

Sherry showed her kids the meaning of hard work, dedication and standing your ground with a warm hear. She passed her knowledge and laughter to everyone who came into contact, whether desired or not. She will be missed by everyone who knew her! Sherry’s smile will never fade away.

No service will be held; a private ceremony will be done by her children.

Please remember “Momma/Nana” Sherry by sharing her stories and knowledge with others.

No donations or flowers needed — just tip your hat to the sun and say hello.

It was a nice ride, Momma.
