Sean Miller Ryan, 54, was born in Billings on August 11, 1971, the third of four sons of Barby and Si Ryan. He passed away on August 14, 2025 after suffering a cardiac event.
Sean graduated with honors from Billings West High School in 1989. He was a very good athlete, playing football, hockey, and baseball. He went on to earn his BBA from Santa Clara University and an MBA from the University of Montana.
Sean was always a hard worker. He began his professional career working with his dad at Ryan Distributing for seven years and then joined Zoetis, where he worked as a Senior Account Manager until his death.
In his spare time, you could probably find Sean on the golf course or fishing with his family or some of his good friends. He enjoyed the simple things in life, but mostly spending time with Shelly and the boys, often barbecuing in the backyard, or with his friends. Some of his favorite childhood memories were connected to the family cabin in Red Lodge, and later to the special times at the “ranch” in Roberts.
For someone who did not want attention, people were easily drawn to Sean and his witty sense of humor, friendly banter, and his great smile. He loved to laugh...mostly at himself! Sean’s untimely passing has left a huge void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by him. He will be missed beyond measure.
Sean’s love for his family was undeniable. He is survived by his wife of almost 25 years (on October 14), sons Rowley, Owen, and Burke, parents Barby and Si, brothers Chris (Trisha), Si (Christa), and Brady (Shannon), mother-in-law Jeanie and brother-in-law Brandon Werholz, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Rowley and Susan Miller, Si and Bridget Ryan, and father-in-law Mick Werholz.
