Robert John Mitzel

January 12, 1944 — May 11, 2025

Robert “Bob” Mitzel passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Bob was born on January 12, 1944, to John and Elizabeth Mitzel in Billings.

Bob graduated from Huntley Project High School in Worden. During Bob’s early years, he worked on the family farm with his father. After 20 + years of being a dairy farmer he started a business called Bob Mitzel Construction where he worked hard until he passed, alongside his brother and many friends.

While Bob will always be remembered as a hard worker, he also enjoyed many passions such as attending Nascar races, boating, camping, and watching his grandchildren play soccer and baseball. Bob and his brother Burt loved to spend their weekends at their favorite spot, the Long Branch, to unwind after a long week. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family whom he loved dearly and would do anything for. Bob was notorious for teaching kids how to water ski from the floor of his boat. Bob was known as the sweetest, most genuine, generous, hard working and caring man on this earth and was loved by so many.

Bob met his wife Joyce in 1997 while they were bowling at the Town and Country Lanes. One of their first dates was to Leo’s Bar in the town of Pompeys. That began their Sunday funday for the next 21 years.

Bob is survived by his wife Joyce Mitzel; his children Melissa and Tanya Mitzel; his stepson Michael Foos; his grandchildren Trevor, Alex, Ciena, Jesse, Nolan, and Skailur; his siblings Burt Mitzel, Gerry Ford, and Joyce Christenson; his four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth Mitzel; brother Mike Mitzel; sister Kathy Mitzel; and nephews and niece Michael, Tory and Aleathia.
