Obituary

Richard Alan "Dick" Fox passed away peacefully on October 16, 2026 in Billings, Montana, surrounded by his loving family. Dick was a devoted husband of 59 years to Judy, and proud father of Alex (Christy) of Bozeman, and Amy (Dwayne) Vogel of Billings. He was an extremely proud grandfather of six: Austin Vogel, Hannah (Ryan) Davis, Megan (Cole) Jones, Emma, Clara and Lauren Fox, and great-grandfather of Breyer Davis. He was a beloved brother of Gary (Carla) Fox, and Tom (Kristin) Fox, and the son of the late Richard D. and Bernadine Fox.

Dick attended Billings West High school where he was an honor student and outstanding athlete. He attended Eastern Montana College one year, and married his high school sweetheart and love his his life, Judy. They moved to Missoula where he graduated with his degree in Recreation Management and started their family. Dick enlisted in the U.S. Army and served six years with the National Guard. With his recreation degree, he became the recreation director for the City of Billings in 1971, and later became a real estate broker and real estate investor.

Dick had a love for life and adventure that was truly infectious. He was a hunter, outdoorsman, and fisherman. He and Judy spent years outfitting, hunting and horse packing in all the rugged and remote backcountry of Montana and Wyoming. Their hunting spanned from years guiding in Alaska to traveling to hunt in Africa.

His passion for travel led he and Judy to travel and cruise the world. He was always up for and adventure! Dick had a quick wit and a generous heart and was known for organizing trips and adventures for friends and family in to his last years. He had boundless energy and enthusiasm, his greatest desire was always "to see more country!"

Dick was a great and loyal friend to all who knew him and a devoted family man.

He will be so missed!
