Patrick Daniel Nau, 79, passed away leaving behind a legacy of laughter, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family. Born on August 15, 1947, in Cottonwood, Idaho, Patrick grew up in nearby Nezperce, where his larger-than-life personality was already shining bright. A gifted athlete, he excelled in both football and basketball in high school—and he certainly wasn’t shy about letting anyone who would listen know just how good he was!

After graduating from the University of Idaho, Patrick headed west to San Francisco to begin his career with Chevron Chemical. As fate would have it, San Francisco had something far more important in store for him: in a stairwell of a Berkley apartment complex he met Rita Hestekin. They married in 1971 and four years later moved to Billings where they built a wonderful life together and raised two extraordinarily handsome, tall, and funny boys, Andrew and Jon.

Patrick went on to spend 31 years with Sysco Foods, enjoying his customers and coworkers. However, his greatest joys were found outside of work on the golf course, out fishing, traveling with his family, making people laugh, volunteering at St. Thomas church, and simply enjoying life to its fullest.

Patrick was a truly remarkable man. He will forever be remembered as kind, genuine, and an absolute charm. He had a way of making people feel welcomed and valued, and could brighten a room simply by being in it. His quick wit and unforgettable laugh brought joy wherever he went. Even when facing life's toughest medical challenges, Patrick showed incredible strength and determination, keeping his undeniable sense of humor right up to the very end.

Patrick is survived by his beloved wife, Rita; his two sons, Andrew (Leslie) Nau and Jon Nau; and his siblings, Janet, Joey (Roy), and Cindy (Larry). He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Marcella; his sister, Amy; and his brothers-in-law Kenny, Bob, and niece Jamie.

Though his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, his involvement in St. Thomas, the stories, friendships, and moments of pure silliness Patrick gave us will live on forever. We were fortunate to have him, fortunate to love him, and fortunate to call him ours.

May he rest peacefully, knowing just how deeply he was loved.
