Obituary

Patricia “Patty” Jean Blank

Patricia Jean Blank, of Billings, Montana, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 11:46 PM, with her three children by her side. She was born on March 23, 1961, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings to Gene and Laverna Kohler.

Patty was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother whose life was defined by generosity and a big heart. She was a true lover, not a fighter—the kind of person who would give the shirt off her back or her last dollar to anyone in need. Her lifelong passion for helping others began after graduating from cosmetology school, when she worked alongside her mother hairdressing for the residents at St. John's Nursing Home. She later showed her family the power of determination by graduating from college later in life, earning the distinction of being the first in her family to obtain a degree. Patty felt her most meaningful work was accomplished at The Family Tree, putting her degree to use, where she thoughtfully supported parents and children through their own unique challenges and facilitated family visits that kept parents and children connected.

Patty found joy in the simple moments of life. She loved her morning coffee stops, taking an afternoon drive, and spending time in her "Stomping Grounds" of Red Lodge, which held a special place in her heart. She cherished every memory she could hold onto, but her greatest joy was watching her children and grandchildren grow.

She lived with the knowledge of understanding and compassion, teaching her family that when people make mistakes, they can make things right with love and forgiveness. She understood that unconditional love is what holds people together. More than anything else in this world, her heart's greatest desire was for her children to love one another, lean on each other, and remain forever close.

Patty was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cliff and Verla Thiel, and Albert and Bertha Kohler; as well as her Great Uncle Buzz and his wife, Tracy.

She is immediately survived by her parents, Gene and Laverna Kohler; her sister, June Good; her children, Tyler (Jamie) Brown, Teal Blank, and Randee (Cody Boy) Blank; her seven cherished grandchildren: Zarrion, Kingston, Barrett and Declan (Twins), Zayda, Greyson, and Kairo.

Her love was her greatest gift, and her spirit will remain with us forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Shrine Auditorium in Billings, Montana. Family and friends are welcome to attend and share memories of Patty.
