Murnell Lyalus Fargo of Billings, Montana passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026 at the age of 87 in Billings, surrounded by her family. Murnell was born in Butte, Montana on February 22, 1939. She was the daughter of Melvin and Lyalus Mikkelson. She graduated from Anaconda High School and attended Montana State University Bozeman for 2 years and University of Montana Western for 1 year. She married Michael Fargo on February 27, 1960 in Glasgow, Montana. She and her husband moved to Alaska where they raised 3 sons. Murnell loved gardening, knitting, feeding the birds and her dogs were a part of her life from childhood until her passing. She was warm, genuine, quick to laugh, compassionate, generous and a mother to many. She was the heart of our family.

Murnell is survived by her sons John and wife Narissa, Allen and wife Carla and her brother Melvin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Michael and her son Paul.

Her funeral will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Billings, Montana at 11:00 AM September 3, 2026 followed by graveside service at Holy Cross Cemetery at 12:30. We will have a reception at the family residence at 5:00 PM following the graveside service.
