In Loving Memory of Megan Ghekiere

Our hearts are heavy as we remember our beloved friend, Megan Alexandra Ghekiere, who unexpectedly passed away on August 23, 2026. Megan’s passing leaves an indescribable hole in the hearts of her husband, family, friends, and all those who were blessed to know and love her. Megan was the kind of person who left a lasting impression on everyone she met - someone whose friendship, laughter and presence made life a little brighter.

Megan was born in California on May 1, 1987 to her parents Dana and Barbara Smith. When she was 11 years old, Megan’s family moved to Normandy Park, Washington. She spent much of her childhood in Washington and attended Highline High School in Burien, where she was on the drill team. Megan was well-liked by students and staff, especially for her genuine kindness. She had a big heart and could always make you smile.

In 2010, Megan moved to Billings, Montana where she lived for a few years before returning to Washington, but her heart never truly left Billings. In 2019, she returned to the place she belonged, this time as a single mother to her two beautiful children, Owen, 13, and Chloe, 7.

Being a mother was Megan’s calling in life. She was a wonderful mom who found the perfect balance between being fun, loving and a guiding presence for her children. Owen and Chloe were the center of her world, and she loved them with everything she had.

Megan started attending Divorce Care in Billings and quickly became a leader. She always had a big smile on her face and would welcome every new person with a warm “Come on in, friend!” She was known for making everyone laugh and would take the group on “field” trips to her favorite axe throwing place to let out some aggression.

Megan worked as an Saint V’s for 7 years in Surgery Plus and recently became EEG Tech at Intermountain Health, she was so excited to learn something new and was already loved by her new co-workers. Megan had developed many close relationships with patients who would ask for her by name when they came for bloodwork. She had a deep need to help people in all aspects of life.

Megan met the love of her life in 2020, Adam Ghekiere. Adam also had two wonderful children, Landon, 15, and Charlotte, 12. Their love grew into a beautiful partnership and they were married on October 18, 2025, merging their families into one happy, blended home.

Megan was one of the most kind-hearted, genuine, and loving people you could ever meet. She had a way of making people feel loved and accepted simply by being herself. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she loved Jesus deeply. She also had a special appreciation for the little things that made her smile - baseball hats, beautiful butterflies, coffee mugs, and enjoying a good beer.

On August 23rd, Megan, her children, Owen and Chloe, her bonus children, Landon and Charlotte, her parents, Barbara and Dana, and her grandmother, Evelyn were all taken from this world too soon. Their lives mattered, their love mattered, and the space they leave behind will never be filled. Megan leaves behind her husband, Adam, as well as countless friends and family members who loved her and her family. Megan and her family will be forever loved and missed, and forever carried in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing them.
