Mary K. Kinsfather passed away peacefully in her home, Jan. 9, 2019, with her children by her side. She was a Billings native, born in 1943 to G. Kenneth and Gladys Allen. In 1961, she graduated from Billings Senior High School and married her high school sweetheart, Walt "Sonny" Kinsfather, and began her lifelong dream of being a farmer's wife and raising a family.
All those who knew Mom knew that she had a variety of interests over the course of her lifetime - she loved animals; she had an amazing green thumb for indoor and outdoor plants alike; she enjoyed spending time by her pond and feeding her fish; she was a fabulous cook; she'd snowmobiled, been a part of ski club, kennel club, 4-H, and she'd loved to golf; she loved to travel and she preferred to drive cross-country versus taking a plane (she traveled throughout the United States - from Maine, to Texas, to California, including driving the entire U.S. Route 1). Mom easily made friends wherever she went, and people valued her kindness and her sense of humor.
She loved everything about being a farmer's wife.
Mary K. is survived by two sons, Rick (Geri) Kinsfather and Robb (Kim) Kinsfather; and a daughter, Jennie Kinsfather; seven grandchildren, Sydney, Aaron, Kenny, Matt, Nick, Zack and Katie Kinsfather; her sister, Peggy Jo Wilson; brothers-in-law, John (Sandra) Kinsfather and Barry (Bonnie) Kinsfather; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Kinsfather; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Walter H. Kinsfather and Thelma O. Kinsfather; her parents, G.K. and Gladys Allen; and her brother-in-law, Robert W. Wilson.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Mary K's life will take place in the spring with a private family graveside service.
