Obituary

Marilyn M. Kramer, 85, a long-time resident of Billings, passed away on Sunday, April 12. Marilyn was born in Boston, Massachusetts, daughter of Bessie and James Misner. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in History, with honors, at Smith College. She married fellow Bostonian Stephen Kramer in 1963, and in 1971 they moved to Billings with their two young children. As Stephen embarked on a long distinguished medical career at the Billings Clinic, Marilyn pursued her passion for public service and community affairs. This led to 20+ years on the staff of U.S. Senator Max Baucus, where she devoted herself to supporting the citizens of Montana as a community liaison officer. Away from work, she was an avid volunteer and outdoor enthusiast. She and her family embraced all that Montana had to offer. She loved to travel, enjoying everything from hiking in Red Lodge to cycling in Europe to traversing Africa, Antarctica, Russia, China and Australia. Closer to home, she was a dedicated supporter of the Yellowstone Art Museum and Yellowstone Public Radio.Marilyn is survived by her children, Holly and Andrew, and their families: Holly's husband Malcolm and daughter Jesse, and Andrew's wife Brett and sons Oliver and Channing. She is also survived by her older brother Kenneth Misner, and his children James and Faye. The Kramer family will be holding a reception in celebration of Marilyn's life on the evening of Thursday, July 9, at the Yellowstone Art Museum. Condolence cards may be addressed to Marilyn's children at 935 Cook Street, Denver CO 80206.
