Margaret Julia Kenney, aged 98, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on June 18, 2025 at Billings Clinic.

Margie was born on June 2, 1927 in Dickinson N.D. to Margaret and Matthew Hagel. She was the 2nd youngest of 8 children, growing up in Fromberg and Billings. During WW-2, when her father was hurt, Margie dropped out of school to help support her family. She met James Kenney, newly returned from the war, and they married September 14, 1946, sharing the next 61 years together. They lived in Greybull, Hardin, Forsyth and Billings as Jim built his career in the grocery business. Mom often worked alongside him, keeping books for various stores they owned. They had 3 children, Laurence, Kathleen and Patrick. Later,Margie and her sister Helen, opened their own business making custom drapes for Montgomery Wards and later Davidson Designs. She also loved working with wood, built cabinets, beds, and fences-she was an exemplary seamstress and a master craftsman. Mom was also an avid gamer until her sight worsened in the last few years. She shared her love of building and creating with her son Patrick and was the inspiration for his STEM program at the hangar of the Experimental Aircraft Association which has been running for the past 23 years. In addition, she spent 12 years and countless hours designing and building table centerpieces for their monthly dinners. She is survived by her children, Larry and his wife Valerie, Patrick, and Kathleen, two grandsons, Christian and his wife Kerry, and Noah and his fiance Andrea, and one granddaughter Ana Bourn. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy, two special nieces, Jeannie and Barbara as well as numerous other relatives through her long life.

A special thank you to her doctors and all of the medical staff at Billings Clinic that made her passing comfortable and gentle. A special thank you to Dr. Garcia, the staff and doctors at Vance Thompson Eye Care for their continuing care and compassion.. We will miss her more every day.
