Lou Ann Stewart (Stith), age 88, died May 22 at Billings Clinic Hospital. She was born to Velma and Donnie Stith in Versailles, Missouri in 1936. She attended Central Missouri State obtaining a teaching degree and subsequently taught in Jefferson City, Missouri, Joplin, Missouri, Salt Lake City, and Billings. In Billings she was a much loved kindergarten teacher who set many children on the path to be successful in school.

Her mother introduced Lou Ann to her future husband George Stewart and they were married in 1959. Together they had two beautiful children, Lori and Brad.

Lou Ann enjoyed teaching until her retirement. During retirement she ignited her interest in writing short stories and was proud that one of them was published in the Upper Room. Her faith was important to her and she was a member of the Shiloh Methodist Church as well as Delta Kappa Gamma, and PEO Chapter E. She loved her grandsons Tyler and Tucker and was always happy to make them “the very best” scalloped potatoes for holidays or birthdays. She enjoyed giving her great granddaughter, Willow, rides on her “buggy” around the halls of Westpark Village where she and George made their home since 2019.

Lou Ann was preceded in death by her mother and father, her daughter Lori, her son Brad, her brother John, and sister-in-law Sandy.

Surviving Lou Ann is her husband George, grandson Tyler Stewart (Jessica), grandson Tucker Stewart (Kendra), great granddaughter Willow Stewart, daughter-in-law Judy Stewart, nieces Julie Schmitz and Theresa Gorman, and nephews Scott Stith and Greg Gorman.

Per her wishes no services are planned.

Donations can be made to the Shiloh Methodist Church.
