Lois Marie Otto

Lois Marie Otto died Dec. 2, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born in Helena on Jan. 20, 1929, and was a descendant of some of Montana's earliest settlers. She was proud of that history, and Lois carried the steadfastness and independence of her pioneer ancestors throughout her long life. She married Wayne Otto in 1948 and they had three children. Later, their family grew with six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Lois loved to travel and her favorite destination was Africa, but she also delighted in seeing the snow monkeys in Japan. (She had a soft spot in her heart for all animals.) She was a devoted short-track speed skating fan and traveled near and far - Canada, Europe and Asia - to watch competitions. Lois loved birthday parties and game nights with friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne. She is survived by her children, Sandra Fox, Susan (Gregg) Menge, Teresa Otto; and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Donations can be made to Mary Queen of Peace Parish, RiverStone Hospice or an animal charity of your choice. A funeral mass will be held at a later date.
