Lois Irene Huntington

Lois I. Huntington

Lois Irene Snow Huntington was born March 26, 1932, in Billings, Montana to Willmarth and Martha (Mitchell) Snow. She was the second of 4 children and was raised on a dairy farm near Roberts, Montana.

She married Eben ‘Bud’ Huntington on July 10, 1950. Lois always worked side by side as a team with Bud on the ranch. She loved cattle, hogs and all kinds of animals. She enjoyed feeding wild birds.

Canning was her special skill. She canned fruits, vegetables, meat, jams and jellies or anything she could get in a jar.

She enjoyed cooking 3 meals a day and her gravy, goulash and whole wheat hotcakes were favorites of the grandkids! Her donuts were always a special treat. And there was fruitcake and mincemeat pie, too!

Lois enjoyed some traveling with Bud especially a three-week trip to Alaska with their pickup and camper. They also enjoyed fishing at Fort Peck.

In her spare time, she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word search and plastic canvas. She made many Christmas ornaments for family and friends.

Lois was a 4-H member as a child and a leader when her own children were in 4-H. She was a longtime member of TOPS.

A daily diary was kept for most of her life. Every day she recorded the ranch happenings and the high and low temperature.

Handwashing was important! After a trip to town the kids were paraded to the sink to ‘wash the town off’! It served her well as she never contracted covid.

After Bud passed, she completed her time at the ranch she loved and then lived in Lewistown Eagles Manor, West Park Village and Aspen Meadows. The family is thankful for the friends she made and the care she received at each place.

Lois passed February 9, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bud in 2017, her sister Phyllis Holt, brothers-in-law Everett Zimmerman and Robert Holt, sons-in-law Scotty Graham, Steve Shea and Steve Syndergaard.

The family was of utmost importance to Lois. She is survived by daughters Faith Syndergaard (Gabe Schatz), Vinita (Richard) McKay, June (Bob) Krausz and son Les (Barb) Huntington. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren: Bruce (Danielle) Graham and Danica, Arlis Graham (Brett Hallock) and Aiden, John (Shirley) Shea and Ryan, Zoey and Paisley, Myles (BrieAnn) Shea and Leni and Wyatt, Casey (Amy) Shea and Madison and Mason, Karly (Casey) DeMars and Olivia and Cody, Heidi (Greg) Mayton and Hadley and Griffin, Ryan Huntington, Dustin Huntington, and Carson Huntington.
