Obituary

Levi William Gabel

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Levi W. Gabel, 65 years old on July 5th, 2026. Levi endured many health challenges his adult life, but through it all he kept his sense of humor and shared his contagious laugh.

Levi was born on New Year's Eve 1960 to Gerald and Betty Gabel, joining sisters Geraldine and Eileen. Levi brought an energetic spark, testing boundaries, and mastering the art of being the “annoying” little brother, although he would also be the first one to stand up for his sisters if they needed. Levi graduated from Billings Senior High in 1980. It was there he met the love of his life, Candis Allen. He married Candy in 1979, and later that year they welcomed their first daughter Tina, and 4 years later followed their daughter Shannon, in 1983. Levi was definitely outnumbered in a house full of women, but he made sure his girls knew all about football, with the Raiders being the only team that could be celebrated in his house, cars, and motorcycles, although he did give a try at highlighting his daughter, Shannon’s hair for the first time, which turned out amazing. Levi loved building and racing go-carts. He felt so accomplished when he built his Harley Davidson go-cart and won local races. Levi and Candy were married almost 40 years, but with life changes they divorced in 2016, but still cared deeply for each other. Levi was a great friend and treated all of his friends as family. He would be there for any one of his friends when they needed him at any time. Levi started his career July 30, 1980 at the Heights Water District, working there as a laborer then as a supervising foreman for 31 years, until his health started to decline.

Levi’s health slowly declined with a stroke taking his eye-site and taking away a lot of his mobility in 2021. No matter what life threw his way he still was very kind to those around him. He also still knew how to flirt with a pretty lady, even though he could not see them. Levi still loved listening to his Raiders play, listening to Nascar races, rock music, and visiting with family, friends, caregivers, and roommates.

Levi will be missed dearly by all that knew him. He is finally at peace and in Heaven where he can walk, see, and bring all of the laughs and smiles.

Levi is survived by his daughters Tina (Albert) Altman, and Shannon Crews, as well as his bonus son, Mickey Crews, his grandchildren Bergen and Swayzie Crews, Stan and John Bedwell, and Austin Gabel, sisters Geraldine Mollett, and Eileen Gabel, niece, Tamara (Shawn) Meissel, and nephew Justin (Elisha) Stevens. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members and friends.

Levi is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Betty Gabel, and baby brother Ronald.

Levi, you’re an amazing brother, we loved protecting and taking care of you. With lots of love forever. We will miss you.

Dad, we will miss and love you forever and always, until we meet again. We love you so much. Keep shining your light down on us.+
