Lesli (Ross) Satchell

Lesli Carol Satchell, 56, of Billings, Montana passed away on February 6, 2026 due to complications of pneumonia, surrounded by and in the hands of family and friends who loved her dearly.

Born on June 19, 1969, in Great Falls, Montana, to James Malcolm and Shirley (Hatcher) Ross, Lesli spent her early childhood there before moving with her family to Mesa, Arizona, just prior to high school. She graduated from Mountain View High School in 1987, where she was a cheerleader and formed friendships that would last a lifetime.

While she enjoyed the warmth and sunshine of Arizona, Montana always called her home. Lesli returned to Big Sky Country to attend Montana State University, where she graduated with a degree in Communications in 1991. During her college years, she embraced life fully, joining the Pi Beta Phi sorority and building lifelong friendships. She was especially pleased of being named “Dream Girl” for the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, a weighty “honor” she never missed an opportunity to mention, always with a wink and a smile.

Lesli married John Satchell in 1990, and after finishing college, the couple lived briefly in Nebraska and Arizona before returning to Bozeman and eventually settling in Billings. There, they put down roots and raised two beautiful daughters, who were the absolute center of Lesli’s world and her greatest joy. If you knew Lesli, then you knew her daughters. She had an unmeasurable amount of love for Lauren and Avery. She always said raising her two girls was the best thing she has ever done. She loved traveling, long weekends boating and camping at Yellowtail with friends, cheering on her girls at sporting events, attending countless softball games, escaping to Arizona for Spring Training, dancing at concerts and spending evenings playing cards with friends and family.

After 25 years of marriage, Lesli and John separated in 2015. True to who she was, Lesli continued to embrace life with optimism, laughter and her unmistakable spark. It wasn’t too long before she met Art Logan, who has been her devoted partner for nearly ten years. Together, they shared a life filled with love for each other and spent time with family and friends. Lesli reveled in beating Art at blackjack and they spent summer nights listening to country music in the backyard as he spoiled her with hibachi grilled dinners. Art also convinced her to become an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, though her devotion to college football never wavered. A lifelong Montana State Bobcats fan, Lesli rarely missed a game and was often seen proudly wearing MSU hats, shirts and gear.

We also cannot forget to mention her little bestie, her beloved dog and constant companion, Boots aka “Bootsie Pants,” aka “Bootie” who brought joy, light and even some frustration to her daily life, as Lesli was never a stickler for potty training. Ever the social butterfly and life of the party, and still proudly carrying the title of “Pike Dream Girl,” she will be remembered for her quick wit and perfectly timed sarcasm, her big, beautiful brown eyes, and a heart that was as kind and caring as it was fearless. Though tiny in stature, she was larger than life in every way that mattered – her personality filled every room and her capacity to love knew no bounds. She never met a stranger; whether in a restaurant, an airport, or a waiting room, she could strike up a conversation with anyone and somehow leave with a new friend. Her carefree spirit, unmatched zest for life and extraordinary ability to connect with people anywhere she went will never be outdone.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Lauren Nicole Wilson (Jeff Wilson) and Avery Nicole Satchell; her brand-new grandbaby Beckham Douglas Wilson; her mother, Shirley Ross; sisters Lisa Ross (Larry Wolfert) and Linda Hardwick (Daniel Hardwick); and longtime partner Art Logan. She is preceded in death by her father, James Malcolm Ross.

A brief memorial service will be held at 12:00pm Sunday, February 15 at the Billings Depot, 2310 Montana Avenue; followed by a celebration of life beginning at 1:30pm Sunday, February 15 at Yellowstone Country Club, 3200 Paul Allen Way, Billings.
