Leo Bernard Jordan died Nov. 17, 2017, in Billings, at the age of 93.
Leo was born on Aug. 6, 1924, in Red Lodge, to Ernest and Mary Jordan, immigrants from Croatia. He was the second of five children. His mother died when he was 15 and he became a coal miner, following his father and older brother to the nearby mines.
On the day after Pearl Harbor, Leo enlisted with the Marines, seeing action in the Marshall Islands. He attended welding school in Minnesota after the war. He became a proud member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Union for 70 years, working all over the country, Canada and Greenland.
In 1957, he married Sally and they raised three daughters, Robin, Nickie and Seanna, and two granddaughters, Chandra and Erin. For all his gruff exterior, he had a huge heart and loved all children, especially his four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Margaret; his brothers, Andrew, Steven and Lewis; and daughter, Robin.
A memorial reception will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at the American Legion, 1540 Broadwater Ave., Billings. All are welcome to attend.
