Larry passed away on Monday evening, June 24, 2024, at Intermountain Health Hospital.
He was born in Powell, Wyoming, on Nov. 6, 1937, to Ben and Myrtle (Johnston) Hoban. When he was 3 years old, his family moved to Shepherd, where he graduated from high school in 1955.
He went to work for Mulvaney Motors as a mechanic and then to Midland National Bank as a Head Teller. In 1984, he opened Heights Pump & Supply, where he sold irrigation pumps and supplies, and also repaired pumps. He loved helping people with their pumps and made sure they worked correctly.
He loved old cars and his 1950 John Deere Tractor, which he restored to perfect condition. He took pride in working on anything old and rusty, which he would restore to the original look and make it run. He was a member of the Antique Tractor Club, Roaring Twenties Auto Club and Billings Heights Kiwanis, where he would have celebrated 50 years and was known as the “Weekly Program Guy.” The last 26 years, he was a regular familiar face at Eastgate Wesleyan Church, where he was the head usher for many, many years.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff and personnel of River Ridge Nursing Facility for the wonderful, loving care he received during his stay. He loved all of you.
He is predeceased by his parents; brother Pat and son Steven.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter Pam Hayes; son Don Hoban; grandsons Eric Hayes and Kyle Hoban; granddaughter Kelsey Hoban; great-grandson Braxtyn Hayes; and his very special nephew James Hoban.
Memorials may be made to the Eastgate Wesleyan Church, 645 Mattson Lane, Billings, MT 59105, or any animal rescue center.
His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at the Eastgate Wesleyan Church, 645 Mattson Lane in Billings Heights, with interment in the Huntley Cemetery.
AT LAST LARRY IS UNITED WITH THE ONES WHO WENT BEFORE HIM AND IN THE LOVING ARMS OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR.
“HOW BEAUTIFUL HEAVEN MUST BE.”
