Kenneth Lee Sherlock went to be with his Savior on December 21, 2024. Kenneth was born August 4, 1944 in Lander, Wyoming “at a very young age” as he used to like to say; to James and Opal Sherlock and a very resilient pioneering family. They lived in historic South Pass, Wyoming until moving to Lander in 1948. After graduating high school, Kenneth traveled and worked through most of his twenties and volunteered for Vista (Volunteers in Service to America). He was then accepted on October 31, 1966. He went to Baltimore for six weeks for VISTA training and worked for a brief time there. Soon after, Ken went to Bayard West, Virginia where he worked on an assignment to set up a new small library inside a house. There he built shelves using the Dewy Decimal system to catalog all the donated books. After his total year of work was complete with VISTA, he returned to Baltimore where he worked for Baltimore Paint and Chemical ,then W.W. Granger Co. totalling about five years. It was there, that Ken came to faith in Jesus Christ through a Divinely ordered set of events.
After his time in Baltimore, Ken attended Utah State University later graduating in 1975 from Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa. Ken soon moved to Billings after the tragic loss of his fiancé. Where eventually he began working for Special Transportation until Billings integrated Special Transportation into its public transportation system.
On November 13, 1983 Ken married Dona Kenyon, acquiring an adult family, later grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ken became an ordained minister on August 12, 1995. Throughout his life, even from childhood, he displayed a heart for volunteering and assisting others. In 2017, Ken received a presidential lifetime Achievement Award with Corporation for National Community Service. Which was even signed by the President of the United States. He also received an award for 10 years of service to Alternatives as a chaplain. Ken was recognized on the 50th anniversary of AmeriCorps Vista and the Foster Grandparents programs for his lifetime of service.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents James and Opal Sherlock, his two older brothers Pete and Jimmy, and stepson Bob Kenyon.
He is survived by his wife Dona, sister-in-law Eiko Sherlock, nephew Eiji (Tonya) Sherlock, niece Kiyomi (Scott) Wallerich and their families, Vickie Kenyon, Jack (Donna) Kenyon, LeAnne (Nick) Tibesar and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ken had a unique dry sense of humor that will be missed by all
