Katherine "Kay" J. Kuehn

Katherine “Kay” Kuehn, 79, of Billings, passed away peacefully on Dec. 21, 2023, at Sweetwater Retirement Community.

She was born on July 6, 1944, in Red Lodge, the daughter of Frank and Irene (Metcalf) Kuehn. Kay graduated from Billings Central High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Montana College, moving to Bozeman, where she taught for 35 years. Her passion was for education and artistic expression, touching the lives of many children.

Kay moved to Billings in 2019 to live in Sweetwater Retirement Community.

Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful friends and care team at Sweetwater Retirement Community and RiverStone Hospice. They were truly family to Kay.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Frank, Billy and Donald and her nephew, Michael. She is survived by her nephews and nieces: Frank Kuehn, John (Kaylin) Kuehn, Mary (Jack) Heckel, Candice (Henry) Evans, and Shauna Kuehn as well as many great-nieces and a great-nephew.

Memorial mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 19, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2055 Woody Drive. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
