John Francis
Reilly
Apr 24, 1941 — Jul 30, 2026
John Francis Reilly, 85, of Billings, Montana, passed away on July 30, 2026.
John was born on April 24, 1941, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to John Reilly of Cavan, Ireland, and Bessie Schaufle of Ashland, Montana. The family made their home in Sheridan, where John graduated from Sheridan High School.
Following high school, John proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving four years aboard a Navy destroyer. His military service was one of his greatest accomplishments, and he carried great pride in having served his country honorably.
After receiving an honorable discharge, John returned to Sheridan and married Barbara Joanne Drake on July 15, 1963. Together they had three children: John Reilly of Sheridan, Wyoming; Cindy Barlow of Buffalo, Wyoming; and Jason Reilly of Sheridan, Wyoming.
Following their divorce, John married Sarah Oliver of Oakland, California, on April 29, 1975. They made their home in Casper, Wyoming, where John worked at the Chevron Oil Refinery. Together they raised six children, including Sarah's two sons whom John adopted and loved as his own: William Reilly of Denver, Colorado, and Robert Reilly of Casper, Wyoming. Their children together are Edward Reilly of Casper, Wyoming; Jared Reilly of Casper, Wyoming; Emily Austin of Logan, Utah; and Melissa Albert of Casper, Wyoming.
John and Sarah later divorced. He eventually met the love of his life, Jacqueline Walker, and they were married on April 24, 2004, in Wheatland, Wyoming.
John was a deeply religious man and a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He spent countless hours reading the scriptures and preaching to his many children, whether they wanted to hear it or not. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he never hesitated to share it with those he loved or just about anyone who would listen.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Jacqueline; his sister, Cecilia Rowe; his brother, Ross Reilly; and his stepson, Mark Walker.
He is survived by his seven children, two adopted sons, two stepchildren, 15 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
In accordance with John's wishes, no funeral service will be held. A graveside burial with military honors took place on August 5, 2026.
