Joan Louise McClelland Bateman, 93, of Billings, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 29, 2015.
Joan was born on June 25, 1921, in Elizabeth, N.J., to Alvin and Edith (Laggren) McClelland.
On Oct. 2, 1942, she married James Wilbert Bateman in Elizabeth.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church on Poly Drive in Billings; served as a Junior League coordinator for the Texas Children's Hospital; and was president of the Symphony Auxiliary in Lake Charles, La. She was a Home Ec major at Finch in New York City. Joan was a creative homemaker in 11 cities, plus London and Milan. She enjoyed bridge, sewing, needlepoint, choir and Bible study.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Alvin Bertram McClelland. She is survived by her husband, James W. Bateman; children, Robert McClelland Bateman, and Pamela Bateman Gore; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at First Presbyterian Church, with a luncheon following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the Salvation Army.
