Houston James Dovel, of Billings, MT passed away unexpectedly on September 20, 2026 at just 20 years old.

He came into this world on September 22nd, 2005 to his parents Alex Meiers, and Brandon Dovel.

Houston was such a kind soul with a huge heart. His smile was contagious, and he loved to make everyone around him smile. He wanted everyone to do good, saw the good in all, and was always in your corner.

He was an amazing son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend.

Houston attended and graduated from Billings Skyview High School as part of the class of 2024.

Houston started football when he was 7, starting with flag football and finished out his high school career as a Skyview Falcon. He never quit loving it, and once he loved something, he went all in. He would dive in and learn every statistic possible, from football player stats to being able to tell how many bathrooms were in the Pittsburgh Steelers Stadium.

His inquisitive mind never stopped he would know your birthday and how old you were and never forgot it once you told him! He also would go toe to toe with anyone who thought that Michael Jordan was the GOAT over Lebron James – with ‘statistics’ to back it up.

Houston found his true passion with music, he even performed at a local event. He spent hours writing and recording, and was hoping to make it big some day.

Family, friends and music brought him his biggest joy.

Houston is survived by his mom and bonus dad, Alex and Duane Meiers. His brother Ayden Meiers, his grandparents, Scott and Nancy Schaefer, His Uncle Zach (Broox) Schaefer, Aunt Veronica (Zane) Yount, Uncle Nate (Rachel) Meiers. His cousins Wesley, Brody, Aubree, Willow and Nora. Houston is also survived by his father Brandon (Danielle) Dovel, siblings Jade Perezechica, Brayden Dovel and Tinsley Dovel, grandparents Barry and Judy Dovel, Uncles Eric, Cody and Luke Dovel. Aunts Chandra, Amanda and Katrina Dovel. Alongside several other extended family and his very special group of friends who he loved with everything he had.

Houston is proceeded in death by his Great Uncle Scotty, his Great Grandma Donnetta, and his Great Grandma Kirby.

A public viewing will take place on Thursday, September 24th, starting at 1 PM at Michelotti-Sawyers Funeral Home at 1001 Alderson Ave., Billings, MT. A memorial service will also be held at Michelotti-Sawyers on Saturday, September 26th, at 11:00AM. Possible reception information to follow.
