Gary Drake

Gary Drake, age 64, passed away on Jan. 7, 2018, in Billings, after a nine-month battle with cancer.

He was born on May 20, 1953, in Butte, and was adopted by his loving parents, David and Cecil (Joyce) Drake. On Aug. 7, 1976, he married the love of his life, Sharon Thomas. His love and family grew as they had three children together. After graduating with a degree in education from MSUB, Gary made several career changes before he settled in his life's work of service at the Montana Rescue Mission. He served the MRM for over 26 years as executive director and later director of development before retiring in September of 2017.

Gary led a life of service, faith, and love. Through his work and everyday life, he left each and every person he met changed for the better. His love for people of all walks of life was unending.

Gary is survived by his wife, Sharon; his son, Jordan Drake; his daughter, Brittany (Chris) McCann; his daughter, Anjali (Robert) Smith; his granddaughter, Brooklyn; his sister, Tami Noble; his brother, Rob Derrick; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a loving extended family.

Funeral services will be held at the Lockwood Campus of Harvest Church on Thursday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m.

Gary wished that in lieu of flowers that any memorials be donated to either the Montana Rescue Mission or Habitat For Humanity.
