Frank Richard Bemis
December 24, 1942 – July 2, 2025
Frank Richard Bemis, 82, of Billings, MT, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025.
Born on December 24, 1942, to Everard and Eudora Bemis, Frank was a resident of Billings. He graduated from Billings Senior High School and proudly served as an Army medic in the U.S. military. After his service, Frank worked as a diesel mechanic — a job that reflected both his skill and his strong work ethic.
Frank was a man of quiet strength, known for his dedication to his family, his faith, and his country. He was an active member of Hope United Methodist Church and the American Legion Club. In his free time, he loved playing guitar and sharing music with those around him. Frank was a true cowboy at heart, who embodied the spirit of the Old West. His love for collecting guns and knives reflected not only his passion for history but also his deep appreciation for craftsmanship. He had a love for old western music, Frank could regale anyone with tales of legendary artists, bringing their stories to life for those around him. His knowledge and enthusiasm for the genre made him a beloved conversationalist, one who could easily transport listeners to a world of cowboys and melodies from decades past.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Donna Lee (Still) Bemis, who was not only his partner in life but his constant source of strength, comfort, and joy. She was his everything, and their love was the foundation of his world. He also leaves behind his son Dale (Danea) Bemis; his cherished grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and happiness; and his devoted siblings, Dean Bemis and Eileen Dennis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everard and Eudora Bemis, and his son Alan Bemis, whom he held close in his heart every day.
Memorial services will be held on July 18, 2025, at Hope United Methodist Church in Billings, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Yellowstone National Cemetery in Laurel at 2:00 PM. As we gather to celebrate Frank’s life, we will remember the warmth of his smile and the stories he shared, knowing that he will always be with us in our hearts. His memory will live on in the laughter, the music, and the stories shared by those who loved him dearly. He will be missed but will forever ride alongside us, like a cowboy under the vast Montana sky.
