Frances “Fran” Dukart, 94 of Billings, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Morning Star Senior Living of Billings.
The daughter of George Heidt and Frances Kubischta, Frances was born January 31, 1931 in Fayette, ND. She married Clemens Dukart in Gaylord, ND on September 25, 1951 and they made their home in Dickinson, ND until moving to Billings in 1958.
Fran worked several bookkeeping jobs until she was hired by Shipton’s Big R in their corporate office. She retired in 1995 from Shipton’s and then worked part-time for Carquest until fully retiring in 2006.
Fran and Clem loved to travel. They spent time in North Dakota researching family history. In her later years, she enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and putting together many family history books.
Fran and Clem were charter members of St. Pius X Church and she volunteered for many years in the kitchen helping serve funeral masses. With Clem being a member of the Moose and the Knights of Columbus, they loved to go to the Saturday night dances with their friends as well as polka-fests around the Montana/Wyoming area.
Survivors include daughter Jane (Dennis) Crowder of Billings, grandson Gil (Sara) Floyd of Billings, 5 great-grandchildren and brother Peter (Irene) Heidt of Dickinson, ND as well as Clem’s three sisters Clementine Stroh and Leona Sand of Dickinson, and Florence Herauf of Bismarck as well as Clem’s brother Thomas (Donna) Dukart of Dickinson.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband Clemens, son Melvin, father George and mother Frances, and son-in-law Gary Floyd. Other deceased siblings include Mary (Jack) Kuntz, Barbara (Frank) Oster and Paul (Betty) Heidt of Wichita, KS as well as Jack (Julie) Heidt and Ida (Clem) Oster of Dickinson, ND. Deceased brother-in-laws are Harry Stroh and Richard Sand from Dickinson and George Herauf of Bismarck.
Vigil service and rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24 at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. The Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 25 at St. Pius X Church with Rite of Committal at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Calvary Cemetery or a charity of choice.
