Ellen Marie (née Holm) Cummings Cornwell McDaniel
Ellen Marie (Cummings Cornwell) McDaniel passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 10 at 10:30 p.m. at Tenderness Assisted Living in Billings, Montana, under the care of Hospice.
Ellen was born on June 20, 1941, in Glendive, Montana, to Eugene Phillip “Peany” Holm (March 13, 1912 – June 13, 1982) and Ellen Louise (née Campbell) Holm (September 22, 1915 – August 2, 1983).
Ellen was the middle child of five siblings. She was preceded in death by her older sister, Jean Louise (née Holm) Price, and her younger brother, Thomas William Holm. She is survived by her sister Patricia and brother Roger.
Ellen was a proud member of the Class of 1959 at Dawson County High School.
On January 27, 1960, Ellen married Albert Donovan Cummings (February 11, 1941 – July 9, 1968). They had three sons: Donavan James, Robert Alan, and Stephen Eugene. Albert tragically passed away in an automobile accident in 1968.
In 1970, Ellen met and married Gary Walter Cornwell (May 21, 1941 – April 14, 1990) of Scobey, Montana. They had a daughter, Kelly Louise Cornwell, who was born August 21, 1971, and tragically passed away on December 15, 1971, from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
During her years in Scobey, Ellen was active in Women Involved in Farm Economics (WIFE) and owned and operated her own clothing store, Ellen’s Boutique. She took pride in her work and in being part of the Scobey community.
After Ellen and Gary moved to Billings, she worked at Montgomery Ward until the store closed.
Following Gary’s passing in 1990, Ellen eventually met Scott James McDaniel through a friend. They shared a happy life together for 30 years and were married on June 26, 2019.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Scott; her sons, Donovan and his wife Lori, Robert, and Stephen and his companion Cindy; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her sister Patricia; and her brother Roger.
She leaves behind family and friends who will miss her dearly and cherish the memories they made with her.
