Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Wright Nelson

Elizabeth "Betty" Wright Nelson, 98, passed away at her home on Aug. 10, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born in Billings on April 29, 1918, one of seven children born to Florence and Ralph Wright, who were homesteaders on Duck Creek. She married Stanley "Scoop" Nelson in 1936. They were married 55 years and, together, they raised three children.

Betty loved her family fiercely, served her Lord and her church with all her heart, and played bridge just like she lived her life - with gusto!

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her six siblings. She is survived by son Ken (Ethel) Nelson; daughters Sharon Mathews and Becky (Roy) Nelson; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at First Presbyterian Church, 2420 13th St. West, Billings.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Rocky Mountain Hospice.
