Edwin Lee Walter
August 8, 1971 – June 23, 2025
Edwin Lee Walter, 53, of Billings, Montana, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.
Eddie was born on August 8, 1971, in Billings to Diana Walter. He was raised in Montana and, like many young men, had his share of adventures—sometimes getting into a little trouble that led to changing schools a few times. A turning point in his life came with his time at youth camp, which helped him grow, but nothing had a more profound impact than the birth of his son Tristan in 2001.
Eddie worked in the trades for much of his life. After returning from Western Montana—where he once lost part of a finger while cutting timber—he began his career with Star Service, assisting the plumbers and pipefitters of Local 30. Over the next three decades, he became known as a hardworking and reliable presence on job sites throughout the region, making lasting friendships with countless construction workers along the way.
A proud Christian, Eddie enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: hunting, golfing, and hosting barbecues with those he loved. He valued time spent outdoors and made the most of every moment shared with friends and family.
He is survived by his parents, Ron and Diana Carlson; his former wife Dawn; and his soulmate and best friend, Kitty. He leaves behind his children Tristan (Kayla), Travis, and Chris Easton; grandchildren; and siblings Anita (Mike) Hartman, Kim (Doug) Winkler, Rhonda Carlson, Cory Carlson, and Andy Drechsel. Eddie was also a beloved uncle to nephews Brendon, Blayze, and Blayke, and nieces Shayla and Destiny. He was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary in Billings. Interment will follow at the Huntley Cemetery. The family invites all who knew and loved Eddie to join them for a reception and celebration of life at the Rhodeside Event Center in Huntley, Montana.
Eddie’s memory will live on in the stories shared, the lives he touched, and the legacy of love and laughter he leaves behind.
