Doris M. Schweigert

Authored by John Schweigert, in memory of his mother, Doris Margaret Schweigert, who passed away on April 11,2026.

Our mother Doris Margaret Schweigert has found peace with the lord. She was born Doris Margaret Andrews in Glendive, Montana, on June 16, 1928. She spent her youth on their homestead near Darby, MT. The fire in her was forged by loving parents Henry and Lucille and younger brother Don.

When she graduated Darby High School in 1946 her adventure began moving to Billings with her Aunt Babe. She found a job with the Northern Pacific Railroad. During this time, she fell in love and began her marriage to Ervin Schweigert that would last 53 years until his passing in 2001. During their years Mom was the constant loving force that supported Dad and their six children.

Over the years they moved across the state from Ekalaka to Polson working together to provide for their family. In 1955 they settled in Billings. Mom was very proud of her position as a ward clerk at Deaconess Hospital from 1965 to her retirement in 1990.

Mom was the string that tied us together. Supporting us in all we did and working hard to make our Dad's business adventures successful. Especially Big Sky Music and Vending. She kept the books, typed music labels for Juke Boxes and gave change at the Fair in our game room. She was always there.

Our Mom and Dad taught us that nobody was a stranger. Christmas, Thanksgiving and the Fourth of July our home was not only open to family but to whatever employee or lonely individual that had no place to go. They would always show up at our homes at Christmas with a food basket. It was always about us.

They later traveled to Japan, England, Germany, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon proving that they fit in wherever they went. It wasn't until later in our life that we realized how much both of them gave up for us. Mom's strength, love and patience set the standard for who we are today. God bless you Mom. No more pain.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; sons, Darrold and William; parents, Henry and Lucille Andrews and sister-in-law Carol Andrews. She is survived by her brother, Don Andrews; children, Colleen (Gary) Wichman, Ervin (Kathi) Schweigert, Cheryl (Steve) Wing, and John (Lori) Schweigert; daughter-in-law Mary Schweigert; grandchildren Craig (Tammie) Schweigert, Shawn (Jaimie) Wichman, Nicky (Daniel) Parnell, Kevin Schweigert, Samantha Schweigert, Jeannie Schweigert, Michael Schweigert, Robbie Schweigert, Christine (Tate) Spivey; great-grandchildren Seth Schweigert, Michela (Dylan) Youngquist, Dylan Wichman, Jackson Wichman, Olivia Wichman, Romy Parnell; and great-great grandsons Austin, David, and Daniel Youngquist.
