Donald Frank Kostelic, 85, of Billings, Montana, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025. He was born on August 11, 1939, in Billings, where he spent his entire life as a dedicated member of the community.
Donald completed his schooling at Lincoln Center before proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force in his 20s. Following his military service, he dedicated over 30 years to the United States Postal Service, where he worked as a distribution clerk until his retirement in 1994 so that he could take care of his terminally ill mother. Affectionately known as “Smiley” by his coworkers, he was admired for his kindness, warmth, and ever-present smile that brightened the lives of those around him.
A man of few words but great depth, Donald lived a humble and peaceful life. He found joy in the simple pleasures—fishing, spending time at the shooting range, and working on his cars. He treated everyone with kindness and respect, embodying a quiet strength and generosity that will be deeply missed. Donald met Gesintha in the year 2000 and got married to her on May 1, 2001. They lived happily for the past 25 years. He has been a great husband, a great step-father and a wonderful step-grandfather. Donald leaves behind a legacy of humility, kindness, and dedication. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Donald will be laid to rest at the closest available plot next to his parents at the cemetery, a simple but fitting resting place for a man who lived with such humility and grace. Donald is going to his forever home to his parents Frank and Bertha Kostelic alongside his brother Kenneth Kostelic and sister Delores Rhoades. His family finds comfort in knowing he will remain close to home, surrounded by the town and people he loved.
Rest in peace, Donald. Your kindness and quiet strength will never be forgotten.
