Dean Wayne Goodman passed away on August 9, 2025 surrounded by his loving family in his home. He was born in Billings, MT December 29, 1947 to Jake and Ruby Goodman. The family farmed west of Billings near what is now known as Zoo Montana. Wayne attended grade school in Billings until moving to the Fromberg/Bridger area in 1958 where they continued to farm.
Wayne graduated from Fromberg High School in 1966, after high school he attended the Helena Vo-tech earning an associates degree in mechanics. He then enlisted in the Army reserves on Dec. 1,1968 he served for 6 years.
Wayne met his soul mate in 1971, Penny Lowell of Laurel, MT. They married in April 1972. Together they had 4 children Bobby, Brenda, Brandon, and Byron. They all grew up on the family farm where they raised sugar beets, malt barley, corn, and pinto beans.
He gained his first daughter-in-law Sonja (Bobby) in 1994 and they welcomed his first grandson Brayden in 2002. His soon to be his 2nd daughter-in-law Serina (Byron) was lost in auto accident days after welcoming his 2nd grandson Calib in 2009. He welcomed his 3rd daughter-in-law Jessica (Byron) in 2024.
Wayne had two grandsons whom he adored dearly, Brayden and Calib. He loved to take them out in the field and trucks during harvest time. He was at his happiest when doing things with them or for them. He enjoyed taking them camping or road trips for ice cream or hamburger. He also loved his pets Hiccup, Jack, Mattie, Taz, and Wilson.
Wayne served on the Sand Creek Ditch and the Bartlet Canal. He also served on the Fromberg School Board. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and snowmobiling. His favorite place to camp and fish was in Yellowstone Park. He enjoyed doing all these things with his family.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Jake, Ruby, and stepmother Marguerite, brother Don Goodman, mother and father-in-law Bob & Mary Lowell, daughter Brenda, son Byron, daughter-in-law Serina, nephew Ryan Lowell, his dogs Mattie and Hiccup.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years Penny, son Bobby(Sonja & Brayden), Brandon, his grandson Calib, dog Jack and two cats Taz and Wilson. Many brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Please join us in celebrating Wayne’s life at 1 pm Friday August 15th at Michelotti-Sawyers 1001 Alderson Avenue Billings, MT 59102. Burial in Laurel Cemetery following service. A potluck at Locomotive Inn.
