Dean William Ballew

Dean William Ballew was born on Oct. 3, 1954, in Gastonia, North Carolina, to William M. and Fern M. Ballew. He graduated from West High in 1973.

Dean loved people and wanted to know everyone was okay. He loved woodworking, painting and building things.

Dean passed away on May 23, 2018.

He is survived by his mother, Fern Dillinger; brothers Keith and Curt (Angie), and nephews Alan (Julie), David (Tara), Josh, Matthew, Jonathan and David. He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; father William Ballew; sister Ruth; and stepfather Larry Dillinger.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 1721 Central Ave.
