Darrell Arthur Wetz passed away on September 29, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Darrell was born in Vale, South Dakota, to Amelia and Gerald Wetz, the youngest of eight children. He began his education in a one-room schoolhouse, where his teachers were his own sisters and sisters-in-law. He went on to Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota, where he earned his teaching degree.

Darrell met the love of his life, Dorothey, while she was living with her sister, who was married to Darrell's brother. They were married in {…} and raised three children: Bryan, Brad, and Brenda.

Darrell was a man of uncommon kindness who would drop everything to help someone in need, especially family. Above all, he loved to laugh. Whether delivering a corny joke or pulling a prank, he made sure everyone around him had a good time. He also loved a game of cards and had a remarkable knack for winning. At the Scrabble table, he was the family's final authority: anyone who played a questionable word knew to check with Darrell first. He was, in every sense, our dictionary.

Darrell was preceded in death by {his siblings, mother and father, and grandson Dustin.

He is survived by Dorothey (spouse), children, Bryan (Patty), Brad (Annette), and Brenda (Jon) , (grandchildren) Tanya, Annie, Josie, Amy, Morgan, and Shelby. Many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026 at 1 PM at Michelotti-Sawyers Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Edgewood Billings, 1225 Wicks Ln, Billings, MT 59105 in memory of Darrell.
