Cynthia L. Asay passed away on June 7th, 2025, at St. Vincents Hospital peacefully with family by her side. On November 7th, 1966, Cyndi came into this world at IHC/ St.Vincents in Billings MT with a sparkle that her mom Char (Walker) Asay and dad Darrell Asay (Deceased) noticed it was special right away. She was the perfect addition for her siblings Duane, Sherry, Tammy (deceased) and Lisa to help her parents smother with love.

The family moved to Helena, MT where she started first grade. After first grade ended the family moved back to Billings, MT. She attended the rest of her primary schools in Billings graduating from Billings West High School on Dean’s List in 1985. While in Elementary school she loved softball and played on the All Star Team as a pitcher.

She decided to accept the offer to attend MSU Bozeman, MT in August 1985. Cyndi fell ill during her first semester of college, so she made the decision to move back to Billings so she could be with family and the doctors she needed. During this time at home, it became apparent that a new kidney was needed. Her brother Duane was the best match and did not hesitate to donate his kidney. The transplant was performed on July 9, 1986, in Seattle, WA.

Cyndi had a remarkable recovery, and the kidney was strong for the rest of her life because as Duane stated in an article in 1986, "Course, I wouldn't give her junk.".

As soon as Cyndi was able to, she went to Eastern Montana College in Billings. She graduated in 1990 with honors receiving a BA in Business. Cyndi moved to Red Lodge, MT and started working for Rock Creek Resort shortly after college. She loved living, working, playing, and building lifelong relationships here. Her nephews would come up to go skiing with her during the winter. There were so many family camping trips that she loved to help plan.

Cyndi came back to Billings and started working for Computers Unlimited butshe always had a desire to make a career in the medical field. When a part timeposition opened in the dietary office at St. Vincents Hospital (Now known asIntermountain Healthcare) she jumped on the opportunity to get her "foot inthe door." She moved up to the billing and worked for Rocky Mountain, a division of St. Vincents Hospital billing department. She accomplished the goal she set for herself and made the medical field her career. She just celebrated her 30-year anniversary with IHC/ St. Vincents Hospital in April of this year.

Cyndi was known for making lifetime friendships, and had an impact on everyone's life she encountered. Family, friends, and her dogs were a huge part of her life. She would send out the best cards to everyone for any occasion, but the birthday cards you would receive from her always fit your personality. She had a sense of humor that would make you smile or laugh even on your bad days. She would make baskets of goodies and always made sure they had at least one of your favorites in it. She enjoyed helping her community in any way possible by participating in drives for charities of all kinds.

Cyndi was known for giving so much and expecting so little!!

Cyndi is survived by her mom Char (Walker) Asay, Brother Duane (Judy) Asay and family, Sister Sherry Flanick and family, Sister Lisa (Bob) Hendershot and family, Paul (Laurel) Stiles and family. She has several nieces and nephews that she loved and enjoyed spending time with.
