Coy C. Owens Jr.

Coy C. Owens Jr., 63, was born on November 11, 1962, in Long Beach, California, to Sharron Sloan and Coy Owens. The family later moved to Albany, Oregon, where Coy went to school until 11th grade before deciding to join the Army. He married his childhood sweetheart in 1987.

Coy enlisted in the Army in March 1980. After an honorable discharge, he worked with his father-in-law as a carpenter, then spent 26 years as a long-haul semi-truck driver.

Coy retired from driving a semi in 2023. In retirement, he enjoyed building things and playing video games. He was a positive role model to many, often praised for always putting his family first. Known for his kindness and willingness to help, he went out of his way to teach those who needed guidance. He devoted himself to supporting his small community and sharing his knowledge. He was the kind of man John Wayne and Clint Eastwood would be proud of.

Coy loved riding his motorcycle, being outdoors, playing his guitar, and spending time with his family, watching his westerns. His family meant the whole world to him, respected by many and loved by all.

On 12/28/25, Coy was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer that metastasized throughout his whole torso and hips. On February 13, 2026, he passed away at home, with his family around him.

He survived by his wife, Cindy Owens, Daughter Amanda Owens (Dirk), Son Brandon Owens, Stepdaughter Ky Zierke (Brian), Father Coy Owens, Brothers Michael Owens (Holly), Peter Owens (Candi). He has 5 grandchildren.

Coy precedes in death with his mother, Sharron, Grandparents, uncles and aunts, and cousins
