Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles L. Best, who departed this world peacefully at his residence on August 6, 2026, just three days shy of his 91st birthday. Born on August 9, 1935, in Memphis, Tennessee, Charles was a cherished son, brother, father, and friend. He was the beloved son of Garland Spurgeon Best and Mary Jane Byrd, who instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and kindness which he carried throughout his life.

Charles was an exemplary individual who pursued his passions with vigor and dedication. After completing his Bachelor of Arts in Engineering, he proudly served his country as an Army veteran, embodying the spirit of duty and honor. Following his military service, Charles embarked on a distinguished career as an electrical engineer, where his expertise and innovation left a lasting impact on the industry.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Charles was a man of varied interests and pursuits. A lover of the great outdoors, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life such as golf, bowling, and fishing. These hobbies reflected his love for nature and his appreciation for the peace it brought to his soul.

Charles's greatest pride and joy were his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth in the hearts of his children: Richard Best, David Best, Teressa Best, and Robert Best. He was also the proud grandfather to two grandchildren, who brought immense happiness and fulfillment to his later years.

In remembering Charles, we honor not only his achievements but also the kindness and generosity he extended to everyone he met. His family wishes to express their gratitude for all the love and support they have received during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a charity of your choice in Charles's memory, honoring his spirit of giving and compassion.

As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we hold close the memories and lessons he imparted. His family lovingly shares a special message: "May he rest in peace!" Charles's life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Charles L. Best will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones. May he rest in eternal peace.
