Obituary

Bruce Allen Cummins, 78, of Billings Montana passed away April 28, 2026, after a year-long, hard-fought battle with cancer.

Bruce was born April 14, 1948 in Newton, NJ, to Thalia and William Cummins III. He was the oldest of four children. Bruce attended elementary and high school in New Jersey; his bachelor degree was attained while he was in the military.

Bruce was a Vietnam-era Veteran, joining the Marine Corps after high school. He branch transferred after Vietnam and served the remainder of his 22 years in the Air Force, retiring in 1988. He worked in security forces and was a trained dog handler. He served proudly and always held those who served after him in highest esteem.

Security was in his blood. After military retirement Bruce moved to the Seattle area where he began a second career with The Boeing Company. He was part of the Security team there where he ended his career in 2009 as the first Director of Security for Boeing’s Commercial Airline division.

On his final retirement, Bruce and Nancy (truest love of his life) moved to Billings where Bruce was passionate about several things: golf, snow removal, decimating dandelions in his yard, cooking, seeing as many Eagles concerts as possible (final total was 18), and following his beloved Yankees! He also loved trips to see grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his God-daughter! He never met someone he didn’t call friend!

Bruce was a member of the Masonic Lodge 128 (Great Falls, Mt); Scottish Rite (Great Falls, Mt); and the American Legion Post 4 (Billings Mt).

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Nancy of Billings, daughter Lynette (Gordon) Roma of Billings; son Ken (Kate) Cummins of Sahuarita AZ; son Michael (Dee Anna) Cummins of Great Falls, MT; sisters Cynthia Sparling and Bonnie (Donald) Flexon Jr. of South Chesterfield, VA; a brother Brett (Jayne) Cummins of Fort Meyers FL; eight grandchildren (Rylan, Chloe, Lauren, Hannah, Brodey, Shelbie, Sarah, & Samantha); five great grandchildren (Riley, Crimson, Hazelee, Nikko & Raiden); one god-daughter (Harper Brew); and numerous nieces and nephews/great nieces and nephews.

At Bruce’s request cremation took place; he requested no services. He did request raising a glass (your beverage choice) and toasting to a good life well lived.
