Brock Connis Holzer, age 41, passed away suddenly on the morning of June 15, 2025. He was born nearly three weeks late on one of the hottest days of the year — August 4, 1983 — in Billings, Montana, to his loving parents, Jack and Candy Holzer.

Brock was a gentle, imaginative child who approached the world with curiosity and care. Ever cautious, he insisted on going down the Slip 'N Slide on his knees. When tasked with building an insect collection in fourth grade, he couldn’t bring himself to harm a single bug — so he borrowed the completed collection from the neighbor girl across the street. He loved Ghostbusters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, later in life introducing those same childhood favorites to his son, Jack.

Brock had a bright, curious mind and a joyful spirit from the very beginning. He got his start in business young, running a candy casino from his parents’ garage. He developed a deep love for technology at an early age, taking apart his first computer at age 9 (though it would be a few more years before he’d successfully reassemble one).

In high school, Brock played on the tennis team and saxophone in the jazz band. He and his friends filmed countless hours of sketches, full of offbeat humor and weird ideas. He graduated from Billings West High School in 2001.

During his college years at Montana State University, Brock became something of a local legend after building a hot tub in the dorm showers — a story that became a memorable (and cautionary) tale for students who came after him.

Brock was the life of the party, full of laughter, quick wit, and warmth. He had many friends and a gift for making people feel welcome and included.

But above all else, Brock was a devoted father. His son, Jack, was the light of his life and his greatest pride. He is survived by his son, Jack; Jack’s mother and former wife, Molly Bell; his parents, Jack and Candy; his brother and lifelong friend, Casey, and sister-in-law, Ashley; his nephews Finn and Rory; his girlfriend, Cassie; his Uncle Rick and Aunt Gail; his Uncle Darrell; and his numerous cousins. The deep love he had for his family was evident in all he did.

Brock will be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, his brilliance, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. A celebration of Brock’s life will take place at 2pm on Sunday, August 3, at DanWalt Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a 529 education savings account set up for Brock’s son, Jack, at Ugift529.com with code 27Y-C8V.
