Beverly (Bev) Lynn Pinnick was born on October 1st, 1950 in Whitefish, Montana and passed away suddenly at her home in Billings, Montana on March 7th, 2026.
Bev lived her first four years in Whitefish, until her father (Harold Schooley) and mother (Marjorie Schooley) decided to move the family—including her baby brother Terry—to Cody, Wyoming in mid-February 1955 when Harold accepted an opportunity to manage the Valley Motor Supply store.
She graduated with honors from Cody High School in 1969 and little did she know, but she would initially meet her future husband Charles (“Charlie”) at Cody High while he was student teaching there. In a fortunate stroke of serendipity, Bev and Charlie would meet again while attending Eastern Montana College in Billings and began dating soon afterward. They were married on August 20th, 1971 in Cody.
Shortly after their wedding, they would move to Bridger, Montana, where Charlie would start his teaching career at Bridger High School. Bev stayed at home raising her two sons (Jeff and Brad) over the next two decades. Starting in 1980, Bev channeled her love of music into piano teaching. Over the next 15 years she instructed many students, from grade school through high school, including her sons.
Bev, Charlie and the boys lived in Bridger until February 1992, when they decided to move to Billings to Charlie’s family home, and continued to live there until her passing.
She was a devoted wife and mother and a loyal friend to many, especially to those closest to her. Spending time in conversation—whether in person or on the phone—with family and friends was one of her favorite things. She had a great ability to be present in a conversation and was always interested and engaged in any interaction.
Bev doted on her two boys and, later in life, their spouses (Kristen and Felicia) and her six grandchildren (Jake, Luke, Josh, and Kate; Keyan and Lauren). Whenever possible, she loved attending their activities, and when she couldn’t be there in person, she cherished hearing about their lives and accomplishments.
Music was a lifelong passion for Bev. She played the piano and sang from her youth through high school, college, and throughout her adult life. In her later years, she loved listening to music as much as playing it, especially gospel and inspirational music from the Gaither Vocal Band. She also loved to play games and put together puzzles in her spare time.
Despite the myriad of health issues that Bev dealt with for most of her adult life, she did not allow them to be a burden. She always carried herself with dignity and grace, and she always had a positive attitude, regardless of what transpired with her health.
Bev is survived by her husband, Charlie, the love of her life, with whom she shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. She is also survived by her two sons, Jeff (Kristen) and Brad (Felicia), and six grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her brother Terry (Linda), her sister Joyce (Brent), two nieces (Carol, Brenda) and one nephew (Ryan). She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Marjorie.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 16th, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church in Billings. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church in her name.
