Arlene J
Swimley
Oct 27, 1949 — Oct 16, 2026
Billings, MT
Arlene, or fondly known as “Vincey” to her family and childhood friends, was called home to the Lord Friday October 16, 2026 after a life full of love, adventure, and a little mischief. Arlene was born October 27, 1949 in Billings, Montana, where she continued to reside throughout her life. She loved Montana for the beauty, outdoor lifestyle she loved so much, and laid back friendly temperament.
Arlene attended local schools in Billings: Highland Elementary, Lewis and Clark Middle School, and Billings Senior High School. She went on to complete her Bachelor's degree at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. Bozeman presented her a wonderful opportunity to both attend school and fulfill one of her lifelong passions of downhill skiing. Following her graduation at MSU, Arlene held various accounting, bookkeeping, and scheduling jobs throughout her lifetime.
Arlene spent many years visiting the family cabin in Silvergate, MT outside the Northeast Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. She caught countless fish and hiked the mountains outside of Cooke City, Silvergate, and Yellowstone. She was even known to run some ski runs over the Beartooth Pass.
Arlene met Bruce Swimley in 1978 in Billings and they would marry on October 27, 1979 the same day as her birthday, where she made her own dress and only had intended on a small gathering. Family and friends had other plans and surprised her with a dual birthday and wedding celebration. Arlene and Bruce would later go on to adopt two children.
Arlene had many passions in life: the outdoors, sewing and crafting, animals, and her faith. These passions brought joy and connection with people throughout her life. Anyone who knew Arlene knew she loved animals to the core, welcoming all varieties into her home. She would jump at the opportunity to sew and share crafts with others. Arlene was a long time member of Rocky Mountain Community Church
Arlene is survived by her husband Bruce Swimley, older brother Gray Vincelette (of Indiana; wife Terri) children Josh (of Seattle; wife Amelia) and Liz (of Maine; husband AJ), grandchildren Abby and Kenzie, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene “Gene” Vincellette and Magdalena “Klosie” Klos and step-mother Charlotte Stroh.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2027. In lieu of flowers, Arlene and family would prefer a donation be made in Arlene’s honor, to a local animal rescue organization or shelter in the donor’s location, to spread Arlene’s love of animals as far as possible. As an avid Bobcat fan, Arlene would like to remind you as always, Go Cats Go!
