John G. Duke

John G. Duke

John Garfield Duke passed away on June 12, 2016. He was born on April 25, 1923, in Wallsburg, Utah. He was sealed to Helen Austin Duke in Logan, Utah, in June of 1954. They were blessed with 10 beautiful children, three of whom preceded them in death.  John has now joined his beloved Helen, three of their children, and all of their siblings.

John served in the Navy during WWII, served a mission for the LDS church with the Hopi and Navajo Nations in Arizona, and attended Utah State University, graduating with a BA in agronomy. He spent 20 years working for the Soil Conservation Service as an agronomist in Glasgow, Billings and Chinook, followed by working for Blaine Redi Mix until he retired in 1993. John also spent many years serving in the LDS church and at the Billings Montana Temple, where he touched many lives with his kind ways, sweet smile and gentle spirit. He was loved in life and will be greatly missed.

Please join us for a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 19, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave., and for a graveside service at 1 p.m. Monday, June 20, at Mountview Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a small gathering at the LDS Church on Belvedere drive after the interment.
