Elizabeth June Brown died peacefully in her sleep, Saturday, February 23rd. June was born on June 8, 1922 in Bemidji, Minnesota to Richard and Alice Gadde. She was raised and educated in Bemidji, and graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in English and Drama. Following her graduation, June taught English and Speech at the University of Maryland. In 1947 she moved to Billings, Montana to be near her sister and soon after met and fell in love with Keith Brown. They were married on July 15, 1948 in Bemidji, Minnesota, and made their home in Billings where they raised three children.
June was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon and Elder, and the Highlands Golf Club. She generously volunteered her time and energy to her church, the Candy Stripers at St. Vincent Hospital and various other organizations as well as to friends and neighbors. June had the gift of hospitality and compassion for others and was always giving her time to care for those in need.
June and Keith enjoyed many winters in the Arizona and California desert with close friends and family. Some of her fondest memories were made on those trips. The family cabin on the Stillwater River was also a beloved retreat for June. She had many happy days there with family and dear friends. June also adored her beloved dogs and was never without one by her side. She delighted in her six grandchildren. From sleep overs, special outings, and card games, to giving each of them a puppy, she cherished their time together. Her grandchildren loved their “Grammie”.
June is survived by her three children, son Richard Brown of Billings; son David Brown (Jinx) of Billings and their children, Breeze Brown Holicky (Grant) of Boulder, Colorado, Arielle Brown of Boulder, Colorado, and Bryce Brown of Denver, Colorado; daughter Annie Brown Harris (Mark) of Seattle, Washington and their children, Drew Harris of Boulder, Colorado, Peter Harris of Pensacola, Florida, and Christian Harris of Tempe, Arizona. June was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Alice Gadde; sisters Dorene Lindstrom and Dorothy Mae Frame; and her husband Keith Brown who died in 1994 after a long battle with ALS. June was always lovingly by his side throughout his illness.
We love you and will miss you, Mom.
