Craig Somerwine

Craig Sowerwine

Craig James Sowerwine, 21, of Billings, went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2014, following a motorcycle accident in Billings.

Craig was born in Cody, Wyo., on May 19, 1992, the son of J.F. and Lisa Sowerwine. He was a brother to Randy, Markus and Katie. Craig attended school in Park City, where the family resided until he was a sophomore in high school, upon which time the family moved to Billings, where he finished his education at West High School, graduating in 2010. Craig went on to attend Montana State University Billings, where he just finished his last finals for the semester.

All who knew Craig knew he was a kind and wonderful human being. His whole-hearted love for people and animals was evident in his daily actions. He lit up a room with his handsome smile and good-looking features. His tall 6’6” height commanded attention when he walked into the room. He was a caring and supportive brother to his siblings and a true friend to his pals! The effect he had on others was evident in the outpouring of support from family, friends and strangers since his passing. His life mission was to have a positive impact on everyone he met (whether they wanted it or not), and he accomplished that!

At the time of his passing, Craig was a Pharmacy Tech at Walgreen’s in the Heights. He was working hard to complete his degree in business finance, so he could work alongside his father at RBC Wealth Management, along with his brother Randy. He enjoyed many other jobs in his short life, including being a beekeeper, even though he was allergic to bees, because it was a challenge for him. He was a lifeguard for many years, and saved the life of more than one drowning swimmer. He excelled and worked hard at everything he attempted.

Craig was a natural athlete, achieving many medals and trophies, usually they were BLUE! He was proud of his Presidential Physical Fitness Awards and, in high school, he participated in as many sports as he could, and enjoyed the feeling of accomplishing and nearly mastering yet another sport. Everyone looked up to him, and not just because of his height, but because of who he was.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and we can only hope each and every one of you will have the pleasure of knowing someone like Craig.

He is survived by his parents, J.F. and Lisa Sowerwine of Billings; brothers Randy and Markus (Rylee); sister Katie; Micah Sammartino and their unborn son, due in July; his nephew, Markus and Rylee’s son Kaden; grandparents, Elbert (Pam) Sowerwine, Helen (Joseph) Venier, and Denise Donham; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; a host of awesome, great and wonderful friends; and his favorite four-legged friend and companion, Lu-Lu.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at Faith Chapel, corner of Broadwater Ave and Shiloh Drive in Billings. A reception will follow.

Memorials may be made directed to a fund that has been established to benefit Craig’s unborn child, c/o Sowerwine Fund, RBC Wealth Management, PO Box 2158, Billings, MT 59103.
