Philip W. Boerschinger, 86 of Billings, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2014 at Tender Nest.
The son of Michael M. and Dorla Boerschinger, he was born August 5, 1928 in Glasgow, MT and grew up on the family farm near Nashua. He graduated from Nashua High School.
On September 24, 1949 he married Damaris Wagner in Nashua where he worked for the Farmers Union Grain Elevator and did seismic work. In 1957 they moved their family to Billings and he worked as a roofer before working 27 years at Exxon Refinery, retiring in 1987.
A hobby machinist, he built Hawken muzzleloader rifles. He also rebuilt old tractors, steam engines and flywheel engines. He could fix anything mechanical – without the internet! He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.
Survivors include his son Matthew Boerschinger (Eve), and daughter Michaela Letasky-Brekke (Karl) all of Billings, 5 grandchildren, John Letasky, Lisa Letasky, Thomas (Rebecca) Letasky, Melissa Jordan (Alden), and Mark Boerschinger, and great grandson Brandon Jordan.
He was preceded in death by his wife Damaris, son Michael, and brother Ambrose.
Visitation will be 5-8pm Wednesday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Memorial Mass will be 10am Friday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
