John George Lang Sr., 60, of Billings, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013.
He was born on Sept. 7, 1952, in Billings, to Julius and Freda (Heit) Lang.
A 1971 graduate of Billings Senior High, John was a bull rider and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed all country music and dancing, especially the music of Hank Williams Jr., Waylon Jennings and Dwight Yoakum. He was a loving father, grandfather and caring friend. He worked as a heavy equipment operator/truck driver, and lived in Newell, S.D., and Billings, Mont.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lester Lang; and a granddaughter, Payton Kracht. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Karen Lang of Newell; children Tara (Jesse) Kracht of Belle Fourche, S.D., Amber Lang of Yacolt, Wash., Megan Lang of Mitchell, S.D., John (Megin) Lang Jr. of Belle Fourche; grandchildren Bailey Lang, Gage Kracht, Tyson Kracht, Daven Kracht, Kailynn Lang, Kasen Lang; brother Robert (Linda) Lang; stepmother Monica Lang of Billings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, also at Michelotti-Sawyers.
